Fall protection online course

Fall protection education course is aimed at anyone who will be working at a height above two meters or at supervisors who manage work that takes place above two meters in height.

In the education for fall protection, you will learn the principles of personal fall protection equipment and what equipment is required for different types of work.

According to the law, the employer is responsible for ensuring that the employee has the equipment and knowledge to work safely at heights and avoid falling accidents. Therefore, the Swedish Work Environment Authority requires that personnel who will work above two meters where there are no guardrails have completed fall protection training.

Fall protection training – What does the law say?

The employer is obliged to ensure that there is equipment and knowledge so that the employee can work safely at heights and avoid falling accidents. According to the law, the employer must instruct and provide training to personnel who will work above two meters where there are no guardrails. AFS 1999:3 § 57-58 clarifies that the risk of the employee falling to a lower level must be prevented. If necessary, guardrails, work platforms, work baskets or scaffolding must be used. If guardrails or equipment cannot be used due to the nature of the work, personal fall protection equipment must be used.
AFS 2006:6 Section 3 describes that working conditions must be examined and risks assessed when lifting devices and lifting equipment are to be used.
AFS 2006:6 § 15 clarifies that personal fall protection equipment must be used if it is needed for safe access to the various parts of the lifting device or if there is a risk of the lifting device being hit by another device or vehicle.
AFS 2001:3 Section 4 clarifies that the employer shall, at no cost to the employee, provide the personal protective equipment needed for the work.
AFS 2001:3 Section 10 requires that the employer informs the employee in advance of the risks that the personal protective equipment in question is intended to protect against. The employer must also arrange for instruction and practice and, if necessary, demonstrate how the equipment is to be used so that the intended protective effect is achieved.
